Update: Hyundai pulls offensive ad!
Papists,
Because of your active efforts in contacting Hyundai in the last twenty-four hours and charitably letting them know how offensive you believed the “Soccer Mass” ad I posted yesterday was to Catholics, I was informed today that Hyundai has decided to discontinue airing the ad completely and that they are now removing its traces from YouTube as well. Josh has posted a copy of the statement they are sending in response to your enquiries.
Many of you will remember that back in March the efforts of the CatholicVote community prompted Kayak to remove its offensive anti-Catholic ad as well. These two actions demonstrated that companies and ad agencies will respond to the Catholic community when it presents itself as a unified voice for sanity and fairness. There are plenty of ways, after all, to sell products without needlessly attacking Catholics. And I’m happy that Hyundai has joined Kayak in realizing this simple point.
Well done.

Jeanne,
Who is an angry Catholic? I do believe that we are all JOYFUL CATHOLICS as we await our Lord. Just because someone is not willing to follow the dissent against God does not make them angry. Pointing out dissent against God and His Mass is not anger, it is just plain and simple HUMILITY towards our Lord and His Authority. Loving one’s soul takes more than making them “feel” good about themselves, especially when they act against God to make themselves feel good. It is this type of arrogance and “stupidity” as you call it that keeps those from COMPLETELY converting to our Lord. Jesus never made someone “feel” good about themselves while he accepted their dissent against God. He on the other hand RECOGNIZED their sin and told them to sin no more in order to CONVERT to His Father. Following God in TRUE conversion means following God’s Laws, His Power, and His Authority. Our Church is always within God because God has promised that to us. Help people to love God first by following God, not by helping them to feel good about their choices to override God and His Authority. As a humble servant, NO ANGER OR MALICE, just pure PASSION for our Lord!!!
God Bless,
Catholicism isn’t merely a lifestyle. It’s a deep conversion.
Guitar Masses are incredibly lame and should be banished for all eternity.
“He also wants you to take up your cross and give up your life.” That’s part of the freely choosen lifestyle. Were you sleeping when your faithful priest mentioned it at his homily or is the bible not good enough for you to read?
“Its not a lifestyle. Maybe at your guitar Mass, but not in my Church…..This ain’t no touchy feeling hands holding lovey dovey religion. ” W/such arrogance & stupidity, is it any wonder the Church is always in a battle whether it’s w/in or outside.
Whoop-de-doo.
Jeanne,
He also wants you to take up your cross and give up your life. This ain’t no touchy feeling hands holding lovey dovey religion. This is life and death we are dealing with.
Its not a lifestyle. Maybe at your guitar Mass, but not in my Church.
Give Adam a break & lighten up! He may not be correct on everything but at least his heart might be in the right place. For those who angrily disagree w/him, you need to take some happy pills! You are definitely not joyful Catholics. ——->a requirement to being a good Catholic Christian according to Christ. If you can not be patient & charitable w/ your fellow Catholic, how do you expect to attract others to the Catholic way of thinking?
Yep yet again , I think what Adam means is that being a practicing Catholic is a freely choosen lifestyle. And that is the only way Jesus wants us: to love & accept Him freely.
Adam,
Wasn’t it Judas that mocked the first Mass, our Lord’s Last Supper, by leaving it early to sell out Jesus? Kind of sounds like what you are asking all those that ARE NOT willing to do this by dismissing the Hyundai ad. Hyundai was willing to sell out God’s Mass, a place of His Son’s Sacrifice on the alter to sell their cars. If you are willing to overlook such an offense, that is between you and God, but you should not attack those that LOVE God enough to have RESPECT and HUMILITY for His Presence in the very Mass He installed.
Thomas Peters,
Your skin is plenty thick enough : – D !!! It is the blessed skin God provides you daily. If Adam doesn’t like your words or your blog, the last time we all looked, we still have freedoms in this country to start up our own blog. Let him do that if he would like to hear his own voice (blog). KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!
God Bless,
“being Catholic is a lifestyle…something someone chooses”
Actually, Adam, its not.
We’ll die for our faith and our Church. We won’t for the shoes we wear or the cars we drive. Its not only a lifestyle, it IS our LIFE. Without it, you can kill us. Its that simple.
Face it, Adam. You mock and hate what you do not understand. You used to be Catholic, but because you were poorly taught, you now believe in lies and propaganda. I pray that you get your head put back on straight.
“being Catholic is a lifestyle…something someone chooses”
Just like homosexuality…but I digress!
I’m here all day.
