Some of the recent topics I’ve discussed on the APP blog have some definite relevance to papists:

Yeah! Wake up and smell the coffee! THE SINGLE BIGGEST ISSUE THE COUNTRY FACES IS THE NEED FOR A 5% REDUCTION IN THE CAPITAL GAINS TAX!!! We need to base our domestic policies on the same idea that underlies our policy towards China: that the love of money is the root of all good.

Re Mitch Daniels: one can be pro-life and pro-family without making those issues the centerpiece of one’s campaign, or emphasizing them ad nauseam.
The fact is that the average voter who isn’t as concerned about abortion, gay marriage, and other social issues as we are will be more willing to vote for a pro-lifer if they like how that candidate stands on economic issues.
The GOP certainly needs committed pro-life/family issue voters, and won’t win at a national level without them, but neither can it win on pro-life votes ALONE. Hence, it pays to emphasize the pocketbook issues and win the confidence of voters on that level — then they may be more willing to go along with you on pro-life and family issues. “He who is faithful in small things will also be faithful in greater.”
If “calling a truce on social issues” means simply shifting the campaign emphasis to economic or security issues so that the GOP has the best chance of winning in 2012, I don’t see what’s wrong with that, as long as no one is being asked to give up or compromise their pro-life stand.

To Gov. Daniels I would remind him to read Mark 8:36:
“What profit is there for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?”

For the 1st 2 articles mentioned, most of us expected it. For the 3rd article, I’m very surprised about Mitch Daniels. He comes from a conservative state. To give him another chance, he might declare his opinions on this moral issue when he is offically running.

Mitch Daniels is distinguishing himself as the best GOP candidate for 2012. For a guy who’s frugal with taxpayer money AND pro-life, who thinks he’s going to allow taxpayers to pay for abortions overseas? By the way, he also voted to amend the Indiana constitution saying marriage is between a man and woman, so he’s got the bases covered. He’s not going to be able to avoid these social issues because calling for a truce is much different than actually getting one. Gays aren’t going to back off, and Planned Parenthood and Right to Life won’t, either. He’s an exceptional executive, and he’ll get up to speed on foreign policy. Dubya wasn’t exactly Kissinger when it came to world affairs in 2000. Nor was Bubba in ‘92. Given the genuine problems facing our federal government’s solvency, not to mention people struggling to find work and provide for their families, I think that both sides too often get caught up polishing the brass on the Titanic.
