Video: Pam & Tim Tebow in Focus On The Family Commerical

by Thomas Peters on February 7th, 2010

{update: this is the pre-game commercial. Not the commercial that will air during the Super Bowl tonight … the one that has generated so much anger from the pro-abortion side.}

Here is the script:

PAM TEBOW: I call him my miracle baby. He almost didn’t make it into this world. I remember so many times when I almost lost him. It was so hard. Well he’s all grown up now, and I still worry about his health. Everybody treats him like he’s different, but to me, he’s just my baby. He’s my Timmy, and I love him.

TIM TEBOW: Thanks mom. Love you too.

Fairly light…as it should be for a general audience.

Cindy, the Catholic Vote never made it to air precisely because it was powerful and brilliant. CV got it right, the folks at NBC were cowards. End of story.

A very weak ad. It really was. Again, it didnt hit home the message by any sense of the word. Strike 2 on the SuperBowl ads. Last year(Strike1), the ad didnt even make it on to NBC, and they tried usuing the Presidents face to make the case. This year, they get an ad on CBS and the ad is so weak, one wouldnt even know it was a Pro Life ad, or that was what the campaign was supposed to be about. Maybe next year, they will get it right? Or will next year by Strike 3?

Slats,
Although I admire the Tebows for their moral stands, including this one, I do think it’s pathetic when Protestant “missionaries” go to places like the Dominican Republic and the Philippines. Laughable, really, when there are so many non-believers in the world — but Slats, you are right that it is tragic, too, that some may have lost the Faith through people like these “missionaries”.

I even know someone who went to southern France as a Protestant “missionary” — oh, the suffering, the hardship! but all to bring Christ to …. Christians.

The focus was diluted with all the cutesy stuff going on. They wagered too heavily on the odds that people will visit the website to get the full message. But the peripheral message which did come through is that you can be an inredible, strong woman and devoted mother . . . and that was great to see in contrast to the Dodge ad’s portrait of “strong” women.

The commercial wasn’t worth all the fuss, and certainly not the millions of $$.

As Tom stated, it’s not the actual commercial, it’s just the warm-up for it. There’s more to come.

I certainly support the commercial and message behind it, but before we all join the Tim Tebow fan club, let’s recall that his parents dedicated their lives to robbing people in the Philippines of their Catholic faith. No friends of mine.

As someone with a confirmed disinterest in football, I admit I’m considering watching tonight JUST to hear the Tebow commercial.

What is all the fuss about? It is a beautiful commercial! I would be happy for any of my grandchildren to see it. There is noting offensive it it!

Good heavens!! Are you sure that’s it??? If so there ought to be a ton of very red faces later today. There were times when “I almost lost him?” That’s ambiguous….NOW, PP, and all the usual suspects are, to put it mildly, insane with their claims that this will “make young girls NOT seek medical care” while pregnant!!!
