have these people really stooped to this level??? Yea and the folks in Montana want to teach kindergartners its okay forthe same sex to be “partners”. We can be tolerant but do we need this stuffed down our throats!

My question to public affairs Uof I: Now that you have fired a Catholic, that was teaching courses on Catholicism, for expressing his and the Catholic faith’s opinion on ‘Natural Moral Law’ are you looking for a Markist to fill that position?

I am not suprised that this has happened, although it is a shame. As a recent graduate of DePaul University (the largest Catholic University in the country), I know what it is like to be in a college setting that does not accept Catholics views. DePaul has a very large and popular Gay/Lesbian/Transgender/ Bisexual program, that often speaks poorly about the Catholic Faith and religion in their courses. I would also like to point out that their Catholic studies program was not that popular. It was shocking that this was allowed, and at a CATHOLIC INSTITUTION. Therefore I am not suprised that this would happen at a public university.

The firing of the professor was wrong. Catholics and Catholic teachings are bashed continually at many Universities. Time to stand up and defend our faith and those who teach it.

While listening to the Dr. Howell segment, I went to the university’s website to see that Dr. Howell through 2008 and 2009 received “excellence in teaching” awards voted on by his past students. How does 1 student’s differing opinion override the overwhelming majority of his students? It appears that university decision-makers are becomming more and more gutless, bigoted, and closed-minded to true freedom of speech when it comes to “religious ideas.”
